Confessions Of A Men's Skincare Newbie

Do nothing. That's been my approach to skincare since...forever. Well actually, that's not entirely true. At some point in high school, I randomly started using some oily moisturizer – literally the last thing my teenage skin needed. Did I mention we also lived in humid and moist Florida?
So aside from that brief stint of uneducated skincare, I've truly done nothing all these years other than washing my face in the shower. But due to the convincing persuasion of a devoted wife who is no stranger to quality skincare, I'm glad to be able to say that I've moved beyond apathy when it comes to men's skincare basics and found a routine that makes sense for me and my lifestyle.
I'm all about simplicity in life. So a complicated skincare routine would never do. In the event that you're anything like me, here's my simple routine that I think you'll find super easy to follow:
- #1 – Before work in the morning I use "A Deep Clean" – my favorite Urbane cleanser. I love that it doesn't leave my face feeling greasy like other cleansers, and it's quick and easy to apply with solid results!
- #2 – For me, the next thing I do is apply the "CC Serum." I know there's a lot of benefits to using this, but like I said I'm a simple guy and so for me, I pretty much just use it because it makes my skin feel good. The orange scent ain't bad, either!
- #3 – The next step comes later – after work and a couple of hours of Netflix – when you're ready to get into bed. Two words: "Nighttime moisturizer." Yes, it's hard to believe I'm a guy that now likes applying an evening moisturizer. But I do. Why? Because I genuinely feel the effects when I wake up in the morning. It makes me feel more rejuvenated and refreshed – don't we all want to feel that way in the morning?
That's it. Like I said, simple. Truly men's skincare basics. Skincare doesn't need to be complicated, and I recommend you give it a shot, too. But if you're hesitant I'm not worried, I know your wife will sooner or later convince you otherwise.
